Buying new flooring shouldn’t be complicated. We’ve spent more than 30 years making the whole process simple, honest and stress-free – from the moment you first get in touch to the day you walk across your finished floor. Here’s exactly how it works, step by step.
Step 1 – You want new flooring
Get in touch and book your free appointment
Everything starts with a conversation. You can call us on 01733 325797, drop us a message through the website, or simply pop into our Werrington showroom for a chat – whatever suits you best. There’s no pressure and no obligation. Tell us which rooms you’re thinking about, roughly what you’re looking for and any timescales you’re working to, and we’ll take it from there.
At this stage we’re really just getting to know your project. Are you after a soft, luxurious carpet for a bedroom, something hard-wearing for a busy hallway, or a waterproof floor for a kitchen or bathroom? Do you already have a colour or style in mind, or are you starting from scratch? The more we understand about how you live and what you need, the better we can guide you towards the right options rather than pushing you towards the most expensive ones.
From here we’ll book you in for whatever comes next – a browse around the showroom, a set of samples to take home, or a free home measure. Most customers like to see and feel a few options before committing, so there’s no rush. We move at your pace, not ours.
Step 2 – Find the perfect flooring
Explore the showroom and order free samples
Flooring is something you should see, touch and stand on before you buy – photos on a screen never tell the full story. Our Werrington showroom is one of the largest independent flooring displays in Peterborough, with a huge range of carpets, vinyl, laminate and Luxury Vinyl Tiles on display, both on the roll and in room-sized remnants. You can compare textures, colours and quality side by side, and our team is always on hand to explain the differences without any jargon.
If you’d rather take your time deciding at home, that’s easy too. Order samples through our website or pick them up in store, and you can see exactly how a carpet or floor looks in your own light, against your own walls and furniture. Colours can shift dramatically between a bright showroom and a north-facing living room, so trying before you buy takes the guesswork out of the decision – it’s the single best way to avoid any surprises later on.
There’s no cost and no commitment to any of this. Browse as many ranges as you like, take home as many samples as you need, and ask us anything. We’d genuinely rather you took an extra week to get it right than rushed a choice you’ll be living with for the next ten years.
Step 3 – Get measurements for your room
There are two ways to reach a price with us. The quickest is to measure up yourself and send us the figures – we’ll turn those into an estimate without anyone needing to visit. Alternatively, book a free home measure and we’ll come to you. Both routes end in the same place: before anything is ordered or cut, one of our team measures your rooms properly.
Option A – Measure up yourself for the quickest estimate
If you want a price as quickly as possible, measuring up yourself is the shortest route to one. There’s no appointment to arrange and no waiting in for a visit – just take the maximum length and width of each room at its widest points, including alcoves, bay windows, doorways and any recesses, then send the figures over by email, through the website or by popping into the showroom. Measure twice if you can, though rough is absolutely fine at this stage.
What you’ll get back is an estimate rather than a fixed quote, and that distinction matters. It’s designed to tell you roughly what your project will cost, so you can set a budget, compare ranges or sanity-check an idea without committing to anything or taking time off work. We’ll sense-check your figures as we go – if something looks unusual for a room of that shape, we’ll come back to you rather than guessing.
If you like the numbers and want to take it further, that’s when we book the free home measure below to confirm everything properly and raise your firm quote. Nothing is ever ordered or cut from self-measured figures, so there’s no risk of ending up short. Think of this as the fastest way to find out where you stand before committing any real time to the process.
Option B – Book your free home measure and consultation
Once you’ve got a feel for what you like, we’ll arrange a free, no-obligation home measure at a time that works for you. One of our experts comes to you, measures every room accurately and surveys the condition of your existing floors – checking things like subfloor type, thresholds, doorways and anything that might affect the fit or the final price. Accurate measurements matter: they’re the difference between a quote you can trust and a nasty surprise on fitting day.
This visit is also a proper consultation, not just a person with a tape measure. We can bring a selection of samples with us so you can make final decisions in the exact space they’ll be fitted, with the right light and the right surroundings. We’ll talk through underlay options, doorway trims, how different materials will wear in each room, and any practical points – like how a floor will cope with pets, kids or heavy foot traffic. It’s the moment where a good idea becomes a proper plan.
This is the step that turns a rough figure into a firm, itemised quote. Because the measuring is done by us, we take responsibility for getting the quantities right – so you’re not left worrying that you’ve under- or over-ordered, and the price we give you is based on your actual rooms rather than an approximation.
Step 4 – How much will it cost?
Receive your detailed, no-obligation quote
Once your rooms have been measured by us and your choices are settled, we’ll put together a clear, itemised quote covering everything the job needs – the flooring itself, underlay, gripper, trims, fitting and the removal and disposal of your old floor where required. Everything is spelled out, so you can see exactly what you’re paying for. No vague “from” prices, no hidden extras that appear later, and no pressure to decide on the spot.
We’re always happy to quote for different options too. If you’re weighing up a premium carpet against a best-value range, or comparing laminate with LVT, just ask and we’ll price them side by side so you can make an informed choice within your budget. As an independent business we’re not tied to hitting corporate sales targets – our job is to find you the right floor at the right price, and to be straight with you about what’s worth spending on and what isn’t.
Take all the time you need to think it over. The quote is yours to keep with absolutely no obligation, and we’re on the end of the phone for any questions. When you’re ready to go ahead, we make the next step just as easy.
Step 5 – Book your flooring fitting
Confirm your order and choose your fitting date
Happy with the quote? Simply give us the go-ahead and we’ll process your order and confirm the details with you. We’ll agree a fitting date that fits around your schedule and let you know roughly how long the job will take, so you can plan ahead with confidence. If you’re doing multiple rooms or coordinating with other work like decorating, we’ll help you get the timing right.
Once your order is placed, we take care of everything behind the scenes – ordering your chosen flooring, underlay and accessories, and scheduling our own fitting team. We’ll also let you know if there’s anything you need to do to prepare, such as clearing smaller items or emptying wardrobes, though we’re always happy to help with the heavy lifting on the day. There are no surprises here: you’ll know what’s happening and when.
Because we handle the whole process in-house, from showroom to fitting, there’s no being passed between a salesperson, a supplier and a separate contractor. One team, one point of contact, one company that’s accountable from start to finish – which is a big part of why our customers keep coming back and recommending us.
Step 6 – All fitted, checked and a happy customer
Professional fitting, inspection and aftercare
On fitting day, our experienced fitters do the work. They’ll carefully move your furniture, lift and dispose of your old flooring, prepare the subfloor and fit your new carpet or hard flooring to a high standard, with the tight, wrinkle-free finish that only comes from years of experience. Doors that need easing, trims that need fitting, awkward corners and stairs – it’s all part of the service, done properly.
When the job’s finished, we don’t just pack up and leave. We’ll walk the floor with you, check every room together and make sure you’re completely happy before we go – and we always clean up after ourselves, so the only sign we’ve been is a beautiful new floor. If there’s anything you’re not sure about, that’s the moment to say so, and we’ll put it right.
We’re also here long after fitting day. We’ll give you honest aftercare advice to keep your flooring looking its best, and because we’re a local, established family business – trading since 1990 with a 4.9-star rating from over 400 Google reviews – we’re easy to reach if you ever need us again. Loved the service? Our Refer a Friend scheme rewards you with a gift when you recommend us, because word of mouth is how we’ve grown for over three decades.
