Curtain linings are known for being ideal in the winter months. They’re great for keeping the cold air out while retaining the heat within the home. However, do you know why you should consider curtain linings as a benefit for the summer too?

Lightweight and airy

There are many benefits to curtain linings in the summer. For example, polycotton is the perfect curtain lining material. It is a very lightweight and airy material. This means that it lets air pass through with ease. Who doesn’t want a gentle breeze in the home during those hot and sometimes sticky summer days and nights? Polycotton curtain linings really are very summer-friendly for the home.

Reduces fabric fading

However, that’s not the only benefit of polycotton curtain linings in the summer. Curtain linings are incredible at keeping your curtain fabric safe from sunlight damage. This means you can reduce the risk of lightened or faded curtains due to the strong rays of the sun and increase the lifespan of your curtains, helping them to look as good as new for longer.

Reducing light in your room

Curtain linings often aren’t considered when you’re looking to buy curtains. People often look more at the colours and patterns of the curtains and how they look. Sometimes the feel and thickness of the curtains are considered too. Linings offer a lot more to your home and curtains than you might realise.

Linings on your curtains can make a difference in how much light is blocked out. This is ideal to help with kids’ bedtimes, lighter evenings or naps during the day.

Linings available

We have a selection of linings in white and ivory, depending on the reason they are required.

  • Standard Polycotton Lining. The standard lining offers an easy-care finish and minimizes creasing. Supplied with standard curtains or Roman blinds
  • Premier Twill Lining. Offers a premier drape and crease-resistant finish.
  • Luxury Satin Lining. This heavier quality lining adds luxury to your curtains.
  • Thermal Lining. 100% polyester with a thermal coating on one side. This is ideal if you are looking to add insulation to your room, and will aid heat and energy loss from your window.
  • Blackout Lining. Ivory lining backed with an acrylic coating will significantly reduce the amount of light in the room. To reduce the light around the window itself, we recommend extending at least 10cm on each edge of the curtain or blind.
  • Bonded Interlining. 100% cotton with fleece backing offers a luxury drape and dimming properties. This lining is also ideal for thermal needs and retaining heat within the room.
