LVT stands for Luxury Vinyl Tiles, and this flooring is best described as a combination of vinyl flooring and laminate flooring. LVT is a semi-rigid flooring laid in singular planks, tiles or herringbone design. But what stands LVT apart from laminate or vinyl flooring is its durability and 100% waterproof features.
Rigid core
LVT is made up of various layers including the wear layer, design layer, acoustic layer, and core layer backed with innovative underlay. But what projects Palio Express by Karndean Flooring to the top of the LVT world is the EPC core they use in their premium range; Korlok.
Korlock uses an EPC core offering premium rigidity. EPC (Expanded polymer Composite) offers not only rigidity, but the virgin plastic also enables warmth to travel through the board at an even rate which means the LVT flooring will expand and contract evenly, instead of in ‘hotspots’ which can be seen in SPC cores. The colour-matching scotia is also constructed of EPC and layered with the LVT waterproof film.
Palio Rigid and Palio looselay are both constructed with an SPC core (Stone Plastic Composite). As the name describes, the core includes stone in its makeup. Providing rigidity, the stone composite is not suited to higher temperature rooms such as conservatories, or areas with large windows. Kitchen Bifold doors or bay windows for example with south-facing sunlight beaming onto the LVT throughout the day. The stone polymer concentrates the heat and does not disperse throughout the board like an EPC core.

Korlok boasts a wear layer of 0.55mm, a lifetime* wear warranty, and acoustic qualities of 21dB, this really is the Range Rover Velar of LVT.
Palio Looselay offers a 0.55mm wear layer, and a 20-year wear warranty, with acoustic qualities of 13dB. This flooring is more suited to higher temperature areas compared with Rigid, as it has an innovative underlay that allows the heat to travel along its wavy channels.
Palio Rigid offers a 0.30mm wear layer, a 20-year wear warranty, along with 19dB acoustic qualities.

Easy to maintain
Once you have chosen your dream flooring, the rest is easy. From the swift fitting process using their click system, to daily maintenance, nothing is of any effort. Palio Express LVT only requires a soft brush sweep to remove loose dust or dirt, then simply use the Karndean Clean (or pH-balanced floor cleaner) to mop the floor and allow it to dry.
(The use of felt pads under chairs and tables is also a handy tip to prevent furniture from being scraped along the flooring.)
