Then you have the small rugs that are more accent pieces. They are used to add texture and colour to a space without dominating the room. This can make small rugs ideal for minimalistic styles or if you have eclectic tastes.

Rugs under the front legs of furniture only, is a popular style for medium-sized living spaces. If you have moderate floor space with open layouts, this kind of rug is ideal for you. The rugs define the seating area within the room, without overwhelming the space.
You may prefer the floating rug look. This is where the rug sits in the room with no furniture on. It is often seen under a coffee table in a smaller room. The floating rug style works really well in small living rooms. However, it can be a really good accent piece in a larger space too.
